Probably German wine. Possibly Liebfraumilch or Riesling. My guesses. ???

Planning on getting him a gift?   Dr. Conway has a big plastic box just for hauling home all the wine bottles that people give him at conventions. He works as a chemist, so he really can't do any drinking on weeknights.  That means that there is no way for him to consume all the wine that is given to him. If you are looking for a gift to give Uncle Kage, you might want to try something that isn't a bottle of wine.

Dr. Conway has a big plastic box just for hauling home all the wine bottles that people give him at conventions.

That's actually a Pelican case, so the bottles can be transported securely on a plane.  Problem is, like any other case, there's a limit to how many bottles it can hold.  Surplus bottles are given to the Dorsai or convention staff, or they're disposed of if they look unsafe to drink.

If you don't know anything about wine, don't try to buy a bottle of wine for a wine lover.  Odds are it won't be imbibed by the intended recipient.
Hey! Message is up there buddy!
